Grad Girls is a program run by VIC ICT for Women that will support female University students transition from their academic life as a student to the start of their professional career.
The main objective of the Grad Girls program is to provide resources and support to ensure that female students are successful in taking their first step in their tech related career – whether that is in industry, in a start-up, the small business world, or in a research or academic role.
Grad Girls is a 1-year program which runs from February to October 2018 with 7 monthly sessions from February to May, July to August, and an end of year celebration in October.
The first session of Grad Girls will be held at M&T Resources in February 2018 and will focus on personal branding, workplace behaviour and will cover information on how to set up your first LinkedIn profile, clean up your online presence, how to set up and articulate your skills and experience clearly on a CV and cover lever, how to approach companies you are interested in, and how to approach and prepare for interviews. Some foundational workplace behaviour information will also be discussed to ensure that our participants are prepared to transition into the workforce.
The remaining 6 sessions are hosted at sponsor company offices. Ultimately, the participants will walk away from the Grad Girls program with the necessary tools to make an informed decision about the next step in their career paths and the start of their professional network.
