We’re seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a major enterprise program based in the Brisbane CBD. This long-term contract runs until June 2027 and offers the opportunity to work with modern data technologies, including Microsoft Fabric and Azure services, within a high-performing team environment.

About the Role You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining production-grade data pipelines, curated datasets, and governance-aligned solutions. Working closely with data stewards, governance teams, and business stakeholders, you’ll help shape a scalable, secure data ecosystem supporting enterprise-wide reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production-grade data pipelines and curated layers within enterprise environments.
  • Build Lakehouse solutions using Microsoft Fabric (Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, OneLake, SQL Endpoints).
  • Implement and optimise data models across medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
  • Integrate and serve datasets into Power BI for analytics and reporting.
  • Leverage Azure data services (Azure Data Factory/Synapse/Databricks) where applicable.
  • Manage metadata, lineage, and governance workflows through Microsoft Purview.
  • Apply strong security, privacy, and data quality best practices (RBAC, managed identity, data masking, auditing).
  • Contribute to CI/CD processes using Azure DevOps, with exposure to IaC (Bicep/Terraform).
  • Produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in data engineering or equivalent roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and advanced SQL/PySpark capabilities.
  • Practical exposure to Azure data services and modern cloud data architectures.
  • Experience configuring and managing Microsoft Purview (scans, lineage, glossary, classifications).
  • Familiarity with medallion architecture and dimensional modelling.
  • CI/CD experience using Azure DevOps pipelines, approvals and environment management.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, security, and quality frameworks.
  • Analytical, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced program environment.
