We are currently partnering with a leading Australian communications and technology integrator delivering major projects across the mining plus resources sectors. This organisation designs and delivers complex site infrastructure plus communications and technology solutions for blue-chip clients across Western Australia. Due to continued project growth, they are seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to join their WA Projects team on a 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of ongoing engagement.
About the Role As a Project Controls Specialist, you will support cost control, financial reporting, scheduling plus performance analysis across a portfolio of projects with varying complexity. The role requires strong capability across project controls, project financials, earned value management, budgeting, forecasting plus ERP or reporting environments. You will work closely with Project Managers, Schedulers, Finance plus site-based teams to ensure projects are accurately monitored, financially sound and aligned to contractual, schedule plus cost requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide project controls support across multiple projects
- Ensure compliance with internal requirements plus client expectations for cost, schedule and risk
- Prepare project summary reports covering progress, financials, resources, actuals, earned value plus forecasts
- Deliver project finance plus accounting support across major and minor projects
- Collaborate with Project Managers to create budgets, validate invoicing, track milestones, manage close-outs plus analyse performance
- Produce weekly plus monthly project status reporting
- Identify risks plus opportunities and recommend process improvements
- Support monthly reporting with Finance through analysis plus interpretation of project data
- Provide project cost, margin and forecast analysis to support commercial decisions
- Participate in project review meetings and follow up on required actions
- Maintain accurate project information within ERP systems
- Oversee financial elements including claims, invoicing plus cashflow
- Review project forecasts plus actual performance
- Prepare monthly project accounting reports including WIP
- Establish new projects within the ERP system and maintain data integrity
- Comply with all HSEQ requirements and support a zero-harm safety culture
- Contribute to a collaborative team culture
- Undertake additional duties as requested within the scope of the role
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project control or project financial management (Mining, Oil & Gas or Construction experience preferred)
- Must have experience using Primavera
- Experience with ERP systems plus strong Excel and MS Project capability
- Power BI dashboard development experience (advantageous)
- Experience in project controls, cost control, forecasting, risk management plus Earned Value Management
- Strong analytical plus problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently or within a team
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information simply
- Strong interpersonal skills with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Engineering (preferred)
- Current C-Class driver’s licence
