About the role:
As the Environments Lead for a large IT Program, your key role is to ensure the stability, integration, and availability of all critical IT environments. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their needs, align requirements, and support program goals.
Success in this role depends on strong relationships, clear communication, adaptability, collaboration, and the ability to influence and challenge constructively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and enforce minimum engineering standards to ensure stable environment operations.
  • Partner with platform and delivery teams to uplift engineering and CI/CD practices.
  • Design and implement observability across environments to monitor service health and resolve issues quickly.
  • Develop and manage incident response processes for integrated test environments.
  • Estimate, track, and report on environment-related costs to support program decision-making.
  • Plan and coordinate the provisioning, integration, and sequencing of environments.
  • Gather and translate stakeholder requirements into environment and integration designs.
  • Design shared environments in detail, ensuring they meet delivery and testing needs.
  • Collaborate with Risk and Cyber teams to manage sensitive data in test environments.
  • Work closely with testing teams to support their environment requirements.
  • Participate in stakeholder workshops, providing updates on progress, risks, and dependencies.
  • Support development and testing teams in setting up and maintaining environments.
  • Facilitate alignment on trade-offs within the agreed program scope and business objectives.
  • Lead discussions and workshops with cross-functional teams, both onsite and remotely.
  • Manage ambiguity and help guide teams through change.
  • Influence stakeholders and constructively challenge decisions to drive the best business outcomes.

Require skills & experience:

  • Proven experience working in technology environments, infrastructure, or application development.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of modern technology practices, including DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience or knowledge of personal or commercial insurance is highly desirable.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT transformation projects and/or greenfield implementations.
