About the Role
M & T Resources is seeking an experienced Mainframe Specialist with strong expertise in the HUON insurance solution application to support and enhance core policy administration systems.
As a Mainframe Specialist, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, testers, and solution architects, to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimise HUON-based applications running on the mainframe environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support, maintenance, and enhancements for HUON-based mainframe applications.
  • Analyse, design, and implement program changes to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot system issues to ensure the performance, stability, and reliability of HUON applications.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand system usage, issues, and enhancement opportunities.
  • Participate in system upgrades, patching, and performance tuning activities.
  • Ensure all development and support activities comply with internal standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Document processes, changes, and configurations to support knowledge sharing and audit readiness.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of legacy system migrations or integrations, where applicable.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer or Specialist, with a strong understanding of legacy systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with the HUON solution application, ideally within an insurance or financial services context.
  • Proficiency in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and related toolsets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage incidents and root cause analysis effectively.
  • Experience working in large enterprise IT environments, ideally within insurance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a structured development and support environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
